Many U.S. studies show that 10 million Americans suffer from moderate to severe disability from pain associated with headaches. Because headaches are so common, most people think that getting a headache is just a normal part of life. Wrong!
Headaches. Everyone gets them. They can be mild, severe, annoying, or extremely debilitating and may not go away. Medications may simply dull the pain temporarily but this does not address the cause of these headaches. Also, medications can have a strong negative and lasting effect on the body when used over time. Most people suffering from headaches turn to the more natural and most often more effective approach to treating their headaches with chiropractic care. Headaches are a very common problem and a sign that somethings wrong. Chiropractic care is a proven way to obtain relief of the pain associated with headaches. There are several different types of headaches and chiropractic care not only relieves the pain but it corrects the common cause of headaches. The most common type of headache is a tension headache. Tension headaches are typically caused by physical or emotional stress in our daily lives. Stress then settles in the muscles as tension and can cause headaches. Tension headaches are usually easily treatable with chiropractic adjustments and will subside in frequency with just a few visits to the chiropractor. The second type of headache is a migraine headache. This is characterized by intense pain with sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine headaches are usually caused by impaired vascular flow and usually take more time to treat. A patient suffering from migraines should begin to experience pain relief after a few chiropractic adjustments and a full recovery after completing the prescribed care plan. The most common cause of headaches is the malfunction and misalignment of spinal bones in the neck and upper back. When these bones lose their normal position, nerves and blood vessels to the head are affected and can result in headaches. Specific spinal and postural adjustments can help correct spinal misalignment and dysfunction created by various stresses in our lives. Many patients report headache relief from chiropractic care though it may take more than one visit to achieve pain relief and correct the underlying mechanical restrictions. Everyone is different and the length of care depends on the severity of each patients' condition. How can I relief the pain from migraine?
wouyy asked on Fri, 05 Jan, 2007
My mom is always suffering from the pain caused by her migraine. Are there any ways to at least relief the pain besides tablets? She always drinks them but they don't always work. Any idea would help.

You could tell her to not go to work and go to sleep and dont bother her.

Don't confuse headaches with migraines. If your mother has been diagnosed by a doctor with migraine, then pain medications have also been discussed. If hers isn't working, she needs to report this to her doctor. If she hasn't been diagnosed (self-diagnosing doesn't count), then she needs to have her headaches evaluated.

The best cure I've found for a migraine is this: Take one Excedrin (the kind for migraines), and drink a can of Coca-Cola. It felt like my head popped, and all of the pain was gone. Every other time I've had a migraine, I've landed in the ER.

There are many different treatments for migraine. The most important thing to realize is that migraine is a disease and can actually be fatal. Your mom should talk to her doctor and get a referal to a nuerologist. They can come up with a treatment plan and go from there.
Always remember, any migraine that lasts over 72 hours is considered an emergency and you can have a stroke, so if her migraine lasts longer than that she HAS to go to the ER.
Good luck and best wishes for your mom.
Also it is great that you are concerned and asking for help for her, many family members of people who suffer from migraines do not understand.
Most people are unaware that the use of Botox for the prevention
of migraine headaches came about purely by accident. It all
happened through the use of Botox by plastic surgeons. Patients
undergoing plastic surgery, who were also experiencing
headaches, noticed that their injections of Botox helped with
their migraine headaches.
Botox, also known as botulinum toxin, is a neurotoxin (a...

Many people in our modern society rely on pills for every ache and pain they encounter. Some say this is due to the widespread use of illegal drugs that began in the 1960's. Whether or not that is so, it is true that pharmaceutical companies are making great amounts of money through the sale of prescription drugs. Many of those drugs are being used for migraine relief.

Most people think of a migraine as excruciating pain, but pain is actually the third step of a migraine episode. Before the pain, a majority of migraine sufferers experience the pre-headache phase and the aura phase.
If you have ever heard of the aura phase, you've probably wondered, "What does a migraine aura look like?"
Although many people speak only of the aura's affect on the eyes,...
More than twenty-nine million Americans suffer from migraine and that is just about 10% of the population. Migraine headaches afflict women nearly three times as much as men and migraines are not confined to adults with a significant number of children suffering from them as well. Attacks last anywhere from a just few hours to three or four days and in the case of longer attacks victims commonly...
